Since 1986, Don has specialized in the medical imaging market segment knows as Picture Archiving and Communications (PACS). He has personally pioneered the development of several key technologies and medical imaging standards including image acquisition, workstation design, database management, archiving and the DICOM Standard.
Don was Chairman of the DICOM lead technical committee (WG6, Base Standards) from 1994 to 2001. Don has been a member of the IHE Technical Committee and HL7. Don has written various sections of the DICOM Standard and IHE Technical Framework. He is currently a member in many standards committees.
He has personally trained thousands of people and provided technical and marketing consultation with over 30 medical imaging vendors in the US, Europe and Japan.
Don has written several papers on PACS and image management and is known as
"a world-wide DICOM and IHE expert". He has been a speaker
throughout the world at various conferences, such as RSNA, SPIE, CAR, SCAR, ECR,
HIMSS, JIRA, IHE, AHRA, AAO and more.
